New Email Builder - How to place Anchor Links in your Mailshot

This article will explain how to place Anchor Links within your Mailshots, which will allow recipients to click through to the areas of the email they want to view first. Anchor links can be extremely useful if your Mailshot is content heavy, and contains lots of articles.

Design your Mailshot

  1. From the email builder screen, design your mailshot with the text included that you intend to make into Anchor Links.

Place your link and give it a name

  1. From the content tab, drag and drop the HTML block into the area of your Mailshot that you want to skip to when the Anchor is pressed. Any new HTML block will appear with the text “I’m a new HTML block”.
  2. Click on the HTML block to bring up the Content Properties menu on the right of the screen.
  3. Delete the code showing in the text box below, and paste the following code in its place <a name="tractivity"></a><br />
  4. Remove the word “Tractivity” from the code and replace it with the name of your anchor. We would advise keeping the name nice and simple so it’s easy to remember.

Linking your Anchor

  1. Highlight the text that you wish to be your Anchor, this will bring up a dark blue options bar.
  2. Within the options bar select Insert/Edit Link which will bring up an insert link tab.
  3. In the URL field, enter a # symbol followed by the name of your anchor (example could be #tractivity). **Please note** it is imperative to include the # symbol before the anchor name, to ensure the link is created.
  4. Finally, in order to view the Anchor link working you will need to send a test Mailshot to yourself.
