New Email Builder - Rows

Rows are the foundation of your mailshot. The rows will determine how content is displayed in the email. Familiarising yourself with how rows can be used is a surefire way to make the best mailshots you can.

Adding extra rows

The Rows tab can be found on the right-hand side of the email builder. To add a new row, select the type of row you want to add, and drag this over to the body of your email.

Customising rows

Click on a row, and you will open up a new menu on the right-hand side, called Row Properties. This menu lets you further customise your rows, including their colour, shape, layout and more.

  • Row background colour lets you change the colour of the row’s background. Use the colour picker or enter a hex colour code.
  • Content area background colour will change the colour of any content blocks added to your row.
  • Row background image will add an image to the row’s background. Images can be selected from the email builder’s file manager, or you can enter the address (URL) of your image into the URL field.
    • Extra options let you apply this image to the background of the whole row or the background of the content areas.
  • The Borders subheader lets you customise the border surrounding the content areas in your row.
    • You can increase the thickness of the border line. Increase this from zero (0) to see the border line.
    • The colour of the border line can also be changed. Change this from transparent in order to see the border line.
    • The border can be a solid line, or you can change this to dots or dashes.
    • The corners of the border can also be rounded.
    • Each of the “more options” toggles here will let you apply these border options to specific sides of the border – the top, bottom, left or right sides.
  • Layout mainly covers how the rows will appear on mobile devices.
    • Stack on mobile lets you choose whether rows and content areas will stack when viewed on a mobile device. Note: Turning this off may result in content being squashed in your mailshot when viewed on mobile.
    • Stack order on mobile will determine if the leftmost or rightmost content areas are stacked first when viewed on mobile.
    • Hide on is an option for removing rows (and their content) when viewing an email on either mobile devices or desktop devices.
  • Columns Structure lets you add in extra content areas to an existing row. Just click add new to add a new content area. You can then change the layout using this draggable “handle” between the content areas.
  • Click on a content area in Columns Structure to display more options for each “column”:
    • Column background: You can add a colour to the background of this content area. This colour is unique to this content area, unlike the previous “Content background area colour” option.
    • Padding adds extra space around your content area.
    • Border will add a border around your content area. Use the options to choose the style, thickness and colour of the border.
    • The more options toggle allows you to apply these settings to specific sides of the content area.
