Top Tips for Starting Your Onboarding Journey

Getting started with Tractivity? Here's some handy tips

Starting off your onboarding journey on the right foot sets the foundation for long-term success. These tips will help you build a system that’s easy to use, widely adopted, and aligned to your goals.

Keep It Simple

When reviewing what data to record in Tractivity, it can be tempting to capture lots of information from the outset. Keep things simple, focus only on the key information you need for reporting and engagement.

Try to keep each add screen as short and straightforward as possible. You can always build on this later. Overly complex or time-consuming screens early on can frustrate users and impact adoption.

Top tip: Add a few Contacts, Organisations, and Activities before finalising your setup, and time how long it takes to create each record. If it feels slow or clunky, simplify it!

Engage with Your Users Early

Involving key users from teams who will use Tractivity day-to-day is essential for early buy-in. Those closest to the work often have the best insights. Giving them a voice during setup can:

  • improve the quality of your configuration.

  • increase ownership and confidence.

  • drive stronger usage from day one.

Early engagement can have a significant impact on long-term adoption.

Set a clear purpose and clear goals

Be clear on why you are using Tractivity and what success looks like for your organisation. Clearly defined goals from the outset help to:

  • align teams around a shared purpose.

  • guide configuration and training decisions.

  • support stronger engagement and measurable outcomes.

Without a clear purpose, Tractivity systems can quickly become underused or inconsistent.

Appoint a Tractivity key contact

Having a named internal contact for all Tractivity-related queries helps streamline communication and reduce confusion.

Your Tractivity key contact(s) will:

  • drive onboarding and configuration decisions.

  • coordinate data imports.

  • provide internal support to users.

  • ensure the system continues to meet your goals.

You may choose one key contact or several, but appointing ownership early is one of the most critical steps in embedding Tractivity successfully across your organisation.
