What is "Contacted Permitted"?
An explanation of the Contact Permitted fields for Contacts and Organisations
Contact Permitted is a group of options found in Contact and Organisation records. These options show if the stakeholder has agreed to be contacted on a one-to-one basis.
Contact Permitted vs Subscription Preferences
The Contact Permitted option is different from the Subscription Preferences option. “Contact Permitted” relates to one-to-one contact; for example, one of your colleagues calling a stakeholder on the phone to respond to an enquiry. Subscription Preferences apply to mass communications, such as newsletters, surveys and other non-specific communications. Only Subscription Preferences relate to GDPR.
Setting "Contact Permitted"
You can set the Contact Permitted option when creating a new Contact or Organisation. There are four checkboxes – Email, Post, SMS and Telephone. By default, these checkboxes will all be ticked. If a stakeholder has said they do not wish to be contacted by your organisation, in either of the four channels, you can uncheck the checkbox to indicate this on the stakeholder’s record.
You can also edit Contact Permitted from the View Contact or View Organisation pages, or on the Edit Contact/Edit Organisation forms. Find more information on our Editing a Contact or Organisation guide.
