Accessibility Testing & Remediation During Platform Migration
As part of our ongoing platform migration programme, Tractivity's modules are being transitioned to a new architecture designed to improve performance, scalability and user experience.
To ensure accessibility remains a core part of our development process, each migrated module undergoes comprehensive accessibility testing before being released into the production environment.
Our Approach to Accessibility Testing
During the migration phase, we identified several accessibility regressions that did not meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. To assess and validate accessibility compliance, we use a combination of:
- Automated testing tools, including:
- Lighthouse
- WAVE
- Manual accessibility testing, including:
- NVDA screen reader testing
- Keyboard navigation checks
- User experience verification against WCAG requirements
This combined approach allows us to identify issues that automated tools may not detect and ensures a more thorough accessibility review.
Remediation and Verification
All accessibility issues identified during testing are addressed as part of our remediation process.
Before a module is approved for release:
-
All identified defects are corrected.
-
Accessibility testing is repeated.
-
Findings are independently verified against WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements.
-
The module is signed off for deployment.
This proactive approach ensures that accessibility defects are resolved before reaching the production environment, helping us maintain a high standard of inclusivity and usability for all end users from day one of launch.
Accessibility Reporting
Upon completion of each module migration, we produce an Accessibility Testing Report which includes:
- The testing tools used
- Accessibility findings identified during testing
- Remediation actions taken
- Accessibility scores and results from automated scans
- Verification outcomes confirming successful remediation
These reports provide transparency into the accessibility assessment process and demonstrate our commitment to delivering accessible software.
You can download reports for each module below.
Independent Client Testing
Clients are welcome to conduct their own independent accessibility assessments should they wish to do so.
We support client-led testing and are happy to review any findings raised. Where appropriate, observations can be assessed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements and incorporated into our continuous improvement process.
Conclusion
Each migrated module must successfully complete the accessibility remediation and verification cycle before release. All identified accessibility defects are resolved and validated, ensuring the module is ready for end-user interaction and aligned with our commitment to delivering an inclusive and accessible platform.
