Why UK expertise matters

Stakeholder engagement in the UK has unique requirements shaped by planning law, NHS structures, devolved governance, and sector-specific regulation. A platform built for and proven in the UK market understands these nuances.

Built in the UK
Tractivity is headquartered in Hull and has been developing stakeholder relationship management software since 2002, more than 20 years. Our platform is designed around the realities of British stakeholder engagement, from Section 47 consultations in infrastructure planning to NHS patient and public involvement requirements. All three of the platforms compared here are headquartered outside the UK: Jambo in Edmonton, Canada, Simply Stakeholders in New South Wales, Australia, and Borealis in Magog, Quebec, now owned by Irth Solutions of Columbus, Ohio.
Proven across critical UK sectors
With 112+ named UK clients and thousands of users across energy and utilities, healthcare, government and transport, Tractivity has more named UK clients than any of the three platforms compared on this page publishes. These are not abstract claims, they are organisations that have chosen Tractivity for their most important stakeholder relationships.
A track record you can verify
Transparency matters. Each of the three platforms compared here may serve UK clients it does not publish; what we can compare is what each supplier chooses to put on its own website, and on that measure Tractivity publishes more named UK clients and more UK case studies than any of the three. When organisations like National Grid, NHS bodies and HM Treasury use the platform, that is a signal a procurement team can verify for itself.

Not all stakeholder platforms are built for accountability

Choosing a stakeholder engagement platform isn’t just about features. It’s about whether you can prove what’s been done, show what’s changed, and stand up to scrutiny.
Tractivity is designed for organisations that need structure, consistency, and audit-ready reporting across multiple projects.

Which platform is right for you

Choose Tractivity if:
  • You need UK data residency, with Microsoft Azure UK South as the default region, alongside ISO 27001:2022, Cyber Essentials Plus, an annually audited NHS DSPT submission and a G-Cloud 14 listing in one platform
  • You require tools for consultation, surveys, stakeholder mapping, events and newsletters in one source of truth across teams
  • You value unlimited records and onboarding included
  • You want UK-based, unlimited expert support with a dedicated account manager
Borealis may be a better fit if:
  • Your work is primarily land access, social performance or grievance at industrial scale
  • You operate mainly in North American utilities, mining or energy
  • You are comfortable with a chargeable one-time onboarding and configuration fee, £14,550 on their G-Cloud 14 pricing document dated May 2024
Simply Stakeholders may be a better fit if:
  • Cyber Essentials Plus, NHS DSPT and a G-Cloud listing are not procurement requirements for you
  • You want a modern stakeholder register with AI-driven issue detection and sentiment analysis
  • You do not need an event management module with RSVP and attendance tracking, or calendar sync, neither of which they publish
  • You are comfortable establishing price through their sales process, since they publish no prices
Jambo may be a better fit if:
  • Your focus is North American resources, infrastructure or Indigenous relations
  • You do not need a separate interest and influence stakeholder mapping module, native surveys or an event management module, none of which Jambo publishes as at August 2026
  • A G-Cloud listing is not a requirement for you. Jambo states its G-Cloud application is in progress, with listing expected by September 2026

The key difference

Most stakeholder platforms help you capture information. Tractivity is designed to help you prove what’s been done.

That means: structured data, not scattered notes; reporting that’s ready when you need it; a clear, defensible record of engagement.

If your stakeholder work needs to stand up to scrutiny, structure matters.

Methodology: competitor information in this comparison comes from each supplier's own website, their own published case studies and press releases, and their own filings on the UK Digital Marketplace (G-Cloud), reviewed in August 2026. Tractivity client data is from internal records. Each supplier may serve UK clients whose details it does not publish. This comparison reflects publicly verifiable information only.

Frequently asked questions

Which platform is best for regulated or public sector organisations?

For UK-regulated and public sector work, the non-negotiables are UK data residency, recognised security certifications and audit-ready reporting. Of the four platforms compared here, Tractivity is the only one that publishes all of ISO 27001:2022, Cyber Essentials Plus, an annually audited NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission and a live G-Cloud 14 listing, hosted on Microsoft Azure with UK South as the default region. Borealis is also listed on G-Cloud 14 and is ISO 27001 certified, but records Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus as no on that listing and makes no NHS DSPT claim. Simply Stakeholders and Jambo are not listed on G-Cloud, checked on the Digital Marketplace on 3 August 2026, and Jambo states its application is in progress. That combination is why UK central government, NHS bodies and regulated utilities shortlist Tractivity.

How does Tractivity compare to Borealis? Borealis, based in Magog, Quebec and owned by Irth Solutions of Columbus, Ohio, since October 2025, publishes eight industries and is strongest in land access, grievance management, social investment and multi-site corporate reporting. Its own FAQ puts a typical enterprise implementation at a few weeks, with onboarding charged as a one-time fee. Tractivity is UK-built, UK-hosted and designed for the full engagement lifecycle, with 150+ pre-built reports and all modules included in the licence. If your work is industrial-scale land access in North America, Borealis has the track record. If you need UK credentials, audit-ready reporting out of the box and a faster path to team-wide consistency, Tractivity is the closer fit.
How does Tractivity compare to Simply Stakeholders?

Simply Stakeholders, developed in Australia, has a modern interface, AI-driven issue detection and sentiment analysis, and published ISO 27001 certification with Microsoft Azure hosting including a UK region. It publishes no prices for any of its three plans, records are unlimited on every plan, and we found no G-Cloud listing when we checked the Digital Marketplace on 3 August 2026. Tractivity includes all modules, unlimited records, stakeholder data import, onboarding, future upgrades and UK-based support in one annual licence, with ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, an annually audited NHS DSPT submission and a G-Cloud 14 listing. UK teams needing those credentials should confirm Simply Stakeholders' current UK arrangements directly with them.

How does Tractivity compare to Jambo?

Jambo, based in Edmonton, Canada, is built around evidencing engagement, in their words "purpose-built software for teams who need to prove they engaged", with strong geospatial capability as an Esri Gold partner and more than 30 government and public sector customers stated in Canada. Tractivity covers the full engagement lifecycle, mapping, strategy, consultation, communications, feedback and reporting, with 150+ pre-built reports and UK-based uncapped support. As at August 2026, Jambo publishes no separate interest and influence stakeholder mapping module, no native survey tool and no event management module, and its Insights module is a paid add-on. Tractivity includes all of those in one subscription, configured for you during onboarding.

What should I look for when deciding between these platforms?

Work through these in order:

  • Do you need UK data residency, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and a G-Cloud listing? Of the four platforms compared on this page, only Tractivity publishes all four. Ask every supplier on your shortlist for each one in writing.

  • Will you report to regulators, boards, funders or communities? Ask to see pre-built audit reports, not a dashboard builder.

  • How many projects, teams or programmes will use it? A centralised, organisation-wide platform avoids the patchwork problem.

  • What's included in the licence? Check for hidden costs in record limits, modules, onboarding, support and upgrades.

  • What type of support is offered? Limiting the time with support matters when you need help with an urgent issue.

How important is data hosting and security?

Tractivity hosts on Microsoft Azure with UK South as the default region and EEA and other regions available on request, holds ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, is audited annually against the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit, is UK GDPR compliant and is listed on G-Cloud 14. Borealis publishes production servers in Canada, France and Australia, and its G-Cloud 14 listing declares EEA and other locations. Simply Stakeholders publishes Microsoft Azure hosting with regions including the UK and Europe, and ISO 27001 certification; we found no Cyber Essentials Plus, NHS DSPT or G-Cloud listing. Jambo publishes AWS hosting, with its security page stating five regions including the UK and its FAQ stating four including Ireland and no UK. Always verify current arrangements directly with each supplier before signing.

How does Tractivity approach stakeholder management differently? Tractivity is built around the idea that engagement has to be evidenced, not just recorded. Every interaction (meeting, email, survey response, event, grievance) is logged against the right stakeholder and surfaced in reports designed for boards, regulators and community scrutiny. The platform is configured for you during onboarding, so teams don't need to design their own structure or rebuild reports. That's the difference between a tool you have to shape, and a tool that already knows the shape of the work.
What's actually included in a Tractivity licence? All modules, unlimited records, 150+ pre-built and configurable reports and graphs, stakeholder data import, full onboarding and configuration with a minimum of 20 hours included, future upgrades, and UK-based uncapped support with a named UK Client Success Manager and a managed SLA. No separate module charges, no record caps, no tiered support. Product workshops and full-day sessions across the UK are open to all clients.
Is Tractivity always the right choice? No. If your priority is large-scale land access, social investment or grievance management at industrial scale, Borealis has deeper capability there. If Cyber Essentials Plus, NHS DSPT and a G-Cloud listing are not procurement requirements for you, Simply Stakeholders is a strong platform with good AI-driven analysis. If your work is concentrated in Canada and the United States and geospatial capability matters most, Jambo is a strong regional fit. For UK and Ireland public sector, regulated industry and any organisation accountable for evidenced engagement, Tractivity is purpose-built.
